After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hartford Central, Lake George was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Warrensburg Burgers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lakers also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.
Lake George wouldn't go down easily and took Warrensburg into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-18, 25-21, 18-25, 15-8.
Madyson Brennan paced Lake George's offense, picking up 14 kills. Brennan got some help from Addison Merrigan and her 18 assists. Merrigan was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.
When it comes to explaining why Warrensburg lost, don't look at Riley Huck. Despite the final result, she had 26 digs and two aces. Huck is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. With the win, Lake George broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 3-5. As for Warrensburg, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Lake George has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against South Glens Falls on the 29th. As for Warrensburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Fort Edward on the 1st.
