Baseball Recap: Woodsville Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Blue Mountain

Woodsville is ranked highly in their home state and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Blue Mountain. The Engineers fell 7-4 to the Bucks. The Engineers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bucks earlier this season, when they won 8-7.

Woodsville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Marshall, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Jacob Putnam was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

The defeat snapped Woodsville's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-4 record. As for Blue Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Woodsville will be playing at home against Sunapee at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lakers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Engineers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Blue Mountain, they will venture away from home to face off against Williamstown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
