Basketball Recap: Licking Valley Takes a Loss

Licking Valley lost against Licking Heights back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Licking Valley Panthers took a 63-49 bruising from the Licking Heights Hornets. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Licking Valley still got an impressive performance from Chase Vermilion, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. Licking Valley is 4-2 when Vermilion posts eight or more rebounds, but 2-3 otherwise. Auggie Conley was another key player, putting up seven points.

Licking Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Licking Heights, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Licking Valley will square off against Watkins Memorial at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Licking Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season. As for Licking Heights, it'll be a Battle of the Bugs the Licking Heights Hornets challenge the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Licking Heights knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Mt. Vernon likes a good challenge.
