Baseball Recap: Fairview Knights vs. Broomfield Eagles

Fairview was the 3-2 winner over Broomfield when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Fairview Knights fell 5-2 to the Broomfield Eagles on Saturday. Fairview has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anton Keith was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Fairview saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Craytor, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Even though they lost, Fairview didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 11 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Broomfield only tossed four.

On Broomfield's side, Jameson Clegg tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Broomfield let Nate Wochner and Caden Williamson loose on the outfield. Wochner went 1-for-3 with a home run, while Williamson scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Fairview's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Broomfield, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairview will face off against Skyview at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Broomfield, they will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Northglenn at 4:00 p.m. Broomfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
