Baseball Game Preview: Westmont Warriors vs. Leigh Longhorns

Westmont is 2-8 against Leigh since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Westmont is taking a road trip to face off against Leigh at 4:00 p.m. This will be Westmont's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

Last Friday, Westmont didn't have quite enough to beat Sequoia and fell 8-7. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kainoa Raub made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Brayden Casillas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Leigh came tearing into Saturday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 9-6.

Lance Takamura and Cooper Low made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Takamura tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Low tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, Takamura posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Takamura scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Low scored a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Christian, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Marcus Garcia also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Leigh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Westmont's loss dropped their record down to 2-6-1. As for Leigh, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
