Softball Game Preview: Bermudian Springs Eagles vs. West Perry Mustangs

The Bermudian Springs Eagles will take on the West Perry Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bermudian Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Bermudian Springs made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Biglerville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Canners by a score of 6-4 on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Canners recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Makayla Reese put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Reese was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Audrey Kuntz and Katelyn Willow did some serious damage despite the final result: Kuntz went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Willow went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Willow is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Lilianna Carre was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, West Perry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They lost 12-2 to Boiling Springs.

West Perry saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Prowell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases. Lexie Garland also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Bermudian Springs' loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for West Perry, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13-1.

West Perry's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bermudian Springs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448.
