Softball Recap: Berkeley Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Berkeley can now relate to. They fell just short of the Arroyo Dons by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Yellowjackets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Olive Lightfoot spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Berkeley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Kaufman, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

With the defeat, Berkeley broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-15. As for Arroyo, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

As of now, neither Berkeley nor the Dons have any future games scheduled.
