Baseball Game Preview: Sand Rock Wildcats vs. Spring Garden Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Sand Rock Wildcats duke it out with Spring Garden Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Sand Rock has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with six straight losses, while Spring Garden will come in with three straight wins.

On Thursday, Sand Rock didn't have quite enough to beat Pisgah and fell 8-7.

Sand Rock saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caidan Bullard, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Seth Holland also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Spring Garden's hitters rose to the challenge against a Thunder pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.75 runs allowed on Thursday. Spring Garden blew past Jacksonville Christian Academy 13-3.

Spring Garden pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sand Rock, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Sand Rock came out on top in a nail-biter against Spring Garden in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 15-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sand Rock since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
