Football Recap: Huntington Beach Piles Up the Points Against Marina

Huntington Beach came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 35-6 victory over the Marina Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Oilers, who have now won five games by 20 points or more so far this season.

A big part of Huntington Beach's win came down to the chemistry between Roxie Shaia and her top target Taylor Savage. Shaia threw for 311 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of her passes while Savage picked up 138 receiving yards and four scores. Those four receiving touchdowns gave Savage a new career-high.

Huntington Beach didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brianna Massion and Alyssa Sanchez.

Huntington Beach's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Marina, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Huntington Beach is set to take on their familiar foe Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Oilers 4.9, the Chargers 9.9) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Marina will challenge rival Corona del Mar at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
