Volleyball Recap: Springfield Tigers vs. Litchfield Dragons
Springfield saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of the Litchfield Dragons by a score of 2-1. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Dragons 25-20 in the first set.
While Springfield ultimately came up short, they really made Litchfield work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 29-27, 15-7.
Delayna Johnson paced Springfield's offense, picking up nine kills. Johnson got some help from Sophie Mude and her 24 assists. Kendall Krueger controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Springfield has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's still a better percentage than their 4-16 record this season. As for Litchfield, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10.
Springfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on the 4th. As for Litchfield, they are taking a road trip to face off against Glencoe-Silver Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
