Baseball Game Preview: Morgan Trojans vs. Manti Templars

Morgan hasn't had much luck against Manti recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Morgan Trojans will square off against the Manti Templars at 8:00 a.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Morgan saw some tournament action on Thursday. They came out on top against Kanab by a score of 5-2.

George Jensen was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Owen Gilson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Manti had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 6-3 win over Tooele.

Manti saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lane Cox, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Manti hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Morgan came up short against Manti when the teams last played back in March of 2023, falling 6-1. Can Morgan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
