Basketball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Tigers vs. Trinity Valley Trojans

Having just played yesterday, the Sacred Heart Tigers will jump right back in to play the Trinity Valley Trojans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Sacred Heart is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Collinsville by a score of 64-55 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Sacred Heart's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Villarreal, who shot 7-for-10 from deep and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Villarreal is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Clayton Bezner, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Sacred Heart was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Trinity Valley, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 62-54 win over Calvary Academy on Thursday.

Trinity Valley has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Sacred Heart, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Sacred Heart suffered a grim 61-37 defeat to Trinity Valley when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Sacred Heart avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
