Baseball Recap: Clovis Comes Up Short

The matchup between Clovis and Oakmont on Friday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. Clovis took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oakmont. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Clovis got a good showing from Logan Georges, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Georges a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, Deep Chohan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. Peyton Barsotti was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Clovis has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. The victory was the tenth in a row for Oakmont, bringing their record up to 11-2.

Coincidentally, Clovis and Oakmont will both be playing Buchanan the next time they take the field. Oakmont will head out to face Buchanan at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Clovis will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
