Shorecrest Prep hasn't had much luck against Calvary Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Shorecrest Prep Chargers will venture away from home to take on the Calvary Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Friday, Shorecrest Prep had just enough and edged Lakeside Christian out 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.
Jake Diner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Diner was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Diner wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Black, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Another was Edward Sax, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They skirted past Jesuit 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 12, 2024.
Grayson Gibson looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Maddox Bozeman and Brett Garcy did most of the damage at the plate: Bozeman scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Garcy scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Bozeman a new career-high in stolen bases. Gabriel Campos was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Shorecrest Prep's record is now 2-0. As for Calvary Christian, their record is now 3-0.
Shorecrest Prep might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Calvary Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Shorecrest Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
