Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Basic

Basic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Coronado Cougars with a sharp 11-2 win. With that victory, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Lincoln Evans looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Troy Southisene was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Ace Sapp also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.

Basic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only posted an OBP of .160.

Basic's record now sits at 4-1. As for Coronado, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Basic will face off against Temecula Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Bears will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Coronado, they will take on Spring Valley in a tournament on Monday.
