Basketball Game Preview: Fairmont Senior Polar Bears vs. Brooke Bruins

The Fairmont Senior Polar Bears will take on the Brooke Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Fairmont Senior is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Bridgeport, who was ranked fifth at the time (Fairmont Senior was ranked 19th). Fairmont Senior received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 56-38 to Bridgeport. The Polar Bears' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Brooke walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bees on Friday, sneaking past 51-48. Winning may never get old, but the Bruins sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brooke's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Fairmont Senior, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.

Everything came up roses for Fairmont Senior against Brooke in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, as the team secured an 87-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fairmont Senior since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
