Basketball Recap: Paityn Meacham's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Brighton over Trezevant

Brighton lost against Trezevant back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cardinals took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. While the Cardinals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bears 10-5 in the first quarter.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Paityn Meacham, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 19 rebounds. With that strong performance, Meacham is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Kaitlin Linton, who posted five points in addition to 11 rebounds and five assists.

Brighton dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Trezevant, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-10.

Brighton has already played their next game, a 53-13 loss against Lakeland Preparatory on the 12th. As for Trezevant, they are taking a road trip to square off against White Station at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
