They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lodi 59-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win St. Mary's has posted yet this season.
Leading St. Mary's to victory were Daniel Huerta and Cayden Ward. Huerta scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, while Ward scored 22 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Amir Matthews, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
St. Mary's has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Lodi, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will take on Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Lincoln is ranked 57th, while St. Mary's is ranked 59th). As for Lodi, they will head out on the road to take on Tokay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tokay is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
