Softball Game Preview: St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs vs. Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds

The St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs will face off against the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for St. Mary Catholic and three for Iola-Scandinavia.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between St. Mary Catholic and Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, and Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah kept the tradition alive. The Zephyrs fell just short of the Resorters by a score of 6-5 on Monday.

Scarlett Reichenbacher and Sammi Weis did some serious damage despite the final result: Reichenbacher went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Weis went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Iola-Scandinavia's offense. They lost 7-0 to Amherst on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Iola-Scandinavia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maggie Maus, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Iola-Scandinavia's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for St. Mary Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
