Baseball Recap: St. Bede Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

St. Bede barely beat Bureau Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bruins never let the Storm get on the board and left with a 14-0 win on Wednesday. Considering the Bruins have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Geno Dinges and Ranbir Saini made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Dinges pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Saini pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Dinges went 3-for-4 with three runs, while Saini went 1-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave Saini a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gus Burr was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Aidan Mullane also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

St. Bede's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bureau Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 20-9.

Looking ahead, St. Bede will take on Henry-Senachwine at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bureau Valley, they will face off against Eastland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
