Recap: University Christian Barracudas vs. Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors
The University Christian Barracudas's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 55-27 defeat at the hands of Lake Lure Classical Academy. While losing is never fun, University Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while Lake Lure Classical Academy is ranked 65th).
When it comes to explaining why University Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reece Morin. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Haan, who scored 6 points.
Da'Zirus Watkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lake Lure Classical Academy, scoring 15 points along with 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Watkins has scored at least 25% of Lake Lure Classical Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Andre Staley, who scored 15 points along with 3 steals.
University Christian's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-3. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.0 points per game. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Queen's Grant at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Queen's Grant focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Community Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
