Basketball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Sabino's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Sabino had won two straight road games and Caden Watkins did his part to make it three on Thursday. The Sabino Sabercats took their match with ease, bagging an 80-44 win over the Sports Leadership & Management Bulls thanks in part to Watkins, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists. Those nine assists gave him a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Herndon, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and three steals. Herndon is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Sports Leadership & Management still got an impressive performance from Damien Nevil, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jamari Ross, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Sabino is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.5 points per game. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Sabino didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-53 victory against Mary Star of the Sea on the 20th. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 89-70 defeat against Capistrano Valley Christian on the 21st.
