Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Donna

Donna had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Lopez Lobos as they made off with an 11-1 win. That's two games straight that the Redskins have won by exactly ten runs.

Joaquin Gutierrez made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Donna is undefeated when Gutierrez allows one or fewer earned runs, but 11-12 otherwise. Gutierrez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Herberto Bocanegra was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Roydaniel Gomez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Donna hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive games.

Donna's record is now 14-12. As for Lopez, they dropped their record down to 2-21-1 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Donna will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lobos: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
