Baseball Recap: Naples Comes Up Short

Naples was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Community School of Naples Seahawks. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Seahawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Naples saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JP MARTIN, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. MARTIN has become a key player for the Golden Eagles: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-12 otherwise. Another was CHARLIE REIGER, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Naples' defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Community School of Naples, their record is now 13-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Naples will take on IMG Academy Gold at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Community School of Naples, they will square off against Lake Region at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunder will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Seahawks surely won't give up without a fight.
