Basketball Game Preview: River Valley Raiders vs. Eastern Eagles

The River Valley Raiders and the Eastern Eagles will round out the year against one another at at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (River Valley has three straight wins, Eastern has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

River Valley will bounce into Monday's game after beating Oak Hill, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. River Valley blew past Oak Hill 45-25 on Saturday. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Eastern had to suffer through a 66-33 loss at the hands of Williamstown. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 576th in Ohio, while the Yellowjackets are ranked ninth in West Virginia).

River Valley's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23 points. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

River Valley came up short against Eastern in their previous matchup back in December of 2015, falling 45-34. Can River Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
