Basketball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Ponchatoula's Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ponchatoula can now relate to. They fell 58-48 to the Edna Karr Cougars on Thursday. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Edna Karr found their leader in sophomore Cass Antoine, who posted 18 points. The match was Antoine's eighth in a row with at least 15 points. Azelyah Henderson was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Ponchatoula moved to 23-12 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for Edna Karr, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 29-4.
