Softball Recap: Assumption Wins High-Profile Game Against Oldham County

Assumption faced Oldham County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Rockets came out on top against the Colonels by a score of 10-6. For the Rockets, this counts as revenge for the 9-3 win the Colonels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Lauren Satterly was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Grace Sander was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Assumption has been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Oldham County, their loss dropped their record down to 18-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Assumption will face off against Meade County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Green Waves will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oldham County, they are taking a road trip to take on Mercer County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Colonels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
