Volleyball Recap: Camelback Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Phillip Gonzales and Elisha Barron

Camelback was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Maryvale Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Camelback had strong showings from Elisha Barron, who had 16 digs and three assists, and Phillip Gonzales, who had nine assists and seven digs. Those seven digs gave Gonzales a new career-high.

Camelback's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Maryvale, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Camelback didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Valley Christian on the 28th. Maryvale has also already played their next game (against Parker), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
