Softball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. East Rochester Bombers

Lyons is 9-1 against East Rochester since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Lions will host the Bombers at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Lyons' favor as the squad sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while East Rochester has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Lyons' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Clyde-Savannah 12-0. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Rylee Richardson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Lyons got a big performance out of Gabby Aunkst, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Aunkst a new career-high. Addison VanLare was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Lyons kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive games.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times East Rochester and Sodus have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Bombers lost 22-4 to the Spartans.

East Rochester's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lyons, their win bumped their record up to 15-1.

Lyons took their victory against East Rochester in their previous meeting on Thursday by a conclusive 19-1 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bombers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
