Soccer Recap: Maria Carrillo Triumphs

Maria Carrillo kept a clean sheet against Santa Rosa on Friday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Santa Rosa Panthers 1-0. Given the Pumas' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Panthers are ranked 888th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maria Carrillo's one-goal win came courtesy of Adrian Gonzalez, who's now up to two this season.

Maria Carrillo's victory bumped their record up to 4-0-5. As for Santa Rosa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maria Carrillo will face off against Ukiah at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Santa Rosa, they will take on Piner at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Piner's last four games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
