Baseball Recap: John Dobbins Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Ritchie County

Robert C. Byrd barely beat Ritchie County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Rebels get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jaxon Maglowski made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, John Dobbins was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Owen O'Mara was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Robert C. Byrd was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ritchie County only posted a batting average of .000.

Robert C. Byrd's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Ritchie County, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Robert C. Byrd will welcome Elkins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ritchie County, they will square off against Poca at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.21 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of.
