Softball Recap: Norway Comes Up Short

Hancock hit Norway with a five-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 9-8. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Addyson Burklund made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Paquette, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Norway's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Hancock, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Hancock will look to defend their home field on Monday against Westwood at 4:00 p.m. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.11 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. Norway will be paying especially close attention to Hancock's contest: after Hancock faces off against Westwood, they'll take on Norway again at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
