Baseball Game Preview: Marion Local Flyers vs. St. Henry Redskins

Marion Local is 1-9 against St. Henry since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Flyers will venture away from home to take on the Redskins at 5:00 p.m. Marion Local is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Marion Local's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Ansonia 12-0. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Hayden Poeppelman, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Bruns, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, St. Henry didn't have quite enough to beat Tinora on Saturday and fell 9-8.

Marion Local pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for St. Henry, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Marion Local couldn't quite get it done against St. Henry in their previous meeting on April 12th as they fell 10-7. Can the Flyers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
