Baseball Recap: Western Boone Victorious

Western Boone won the last time they faced Frankfort and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Stars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Hot Dogs.

Quinn Westerfeld spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Western Boone's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Layton Yancey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Western Boone has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Frankfort, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-8.

Western Boone will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hot Dogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
