Baseball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rosman last Friday, Mitchell came back down to earth. Mitchell came up short against the Draughn Wildcats on Tuesday, falling 11-3. The loss continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Mitchell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaj Pitman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Mitchell is 2-1 when Pitman posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

Mitchell's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. As for Draughn, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5.

While Mitchell had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
