It was a good run, but Urbana unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 8-2 to the Damascus Hornets. For Damascus' part, Alyssa Clark made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Clark has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Clark was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run, five RBI, and a stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Falyn Quick, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Josie Hoffacker, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Urbana's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-6. As for Damascus, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.
