Softball Recap: Sparta Takes a Loss

After flying high against Mauston on Friday, Sparta came back down to earth. The Spartans fell just short of the Nekoosa Papermakers by a score of 9-8 on Monday.

Sparta's defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Nekoosa, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7.

Coming up, Sparta will challenge Tomah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Timberwolves' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Nekoosa, they have already played their next game, a 21-1 win against Mauston on the 12th.
