Basketball Game Preview: Lucy Beckham Bengals vs. Berkeley Stags

Lucy Beckham hasn't had much luck against Berkeley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Lucy Beckham easily dispatched Cane Bay on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Lucy Beckham fell just short of Wando by a score of 61-59 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Warriors are ranked 20th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Lindsey Meslow, who posted 13 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four). Athena Dews was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to 14 boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Berkeley waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They breezed past the Cobras to the tune of 60-12. The Stags have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 25 points or more this season.

Berkeley pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points over those games. As for Lucy Beckham, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
