Recap: Killingly Redmen vs. New London Whalers

The Killingly Redmen's 17-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 75-54 walloping at the hands of New London on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Killingly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while New London is ranked 14th).

New London's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devan Williams, who scored 21 points. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Savahn Warren, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Killingly's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for New London, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Killingly will take on Plainfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New London, they will play host again and welcome Windham, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Windham is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
