Basketball Recap: Crandall Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Mya Davis and Trinity Atkins

Crandall was the 54-49 winner over Sunnyvale when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates fell 43-39 to Sunnyvale on Saturday. Pirates fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Sunnyvale since Saturday.

Trinity Atkins and Mya Davis certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Atkins shot 83% from the field on her way to 10 points, while Davis posted six points and four steals. Davis is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Nyla Scott was another key player, putting up six points.

Crandall's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Sunnyvale, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Crandall will be playing at home against John Paul II at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sunnyvale, they will take on Mesquite in a tournament on Saturday.
