Baseball Recap: Oberlin Comes Up Short

Oberlin lost to Wellington two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Phoenix took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dukes. The Phoenix's defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

John McMillion-Jarven spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Chris Hanmer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Jacob Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Oberlin's record now sits at 1-9. As for Wellington, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Oberlin will head out on the road to face off against Valley Forge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wellington, they will square off against Rocky River at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
