Baseball Game Preview: Marshwood Hawks vs. Bonny Eagle Scots

The Marshwood Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Bonny Eagle Scots at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshwood is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.

Marshwood is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Thornton Academy, who was ranked 25th at the time (Marshwood was ranked 14th). The Hawks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Trojans on Friday, sneaking past 2-1.

Charlie Hudson tossed a big game, tossing 8.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marshwood's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ronan Garrett, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Garrett has posted since back in April. Sam Gennaro was another, going 2-for-5 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, while Bonny Eagle put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Noble. The Scots walked away with a 4-0 win over the Knights. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Scots.

Marshwood pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Bonny Eagle, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Marshwood came out on top in a nail-biter against Bonny Eagle in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
