Basketball Recap: Schulenburg Takes a Loss

Schulenburg lost against La Grange back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Schulenburg Shorthorns were outmatched by the La Grange Leopards and fell 61-25. That's two games in a row now that the Shorthorns have lost by exactly 36 points.

Despite the loss, Schulenburg still got an impressive performance from Alana Herzik, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Schulenburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Leading La Grange to victory were Kylie Trlicek and Campbell Cooper Sg 2027. Trlicek went 8 of 18 on her way to 18 points and three steals, while Cooper Sg 2027 went 7 of 13 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds. Trlicek's morning made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Griffin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Schulenburg's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for La Grange, their record now sits at 9-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Village the next time they take the court. La Grange will head out to face Village at 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, while Schulenburg will head out to face them at 11:40 a.m. on Friday.
