Baseball Recap: Shiprock Comes Up Short

Shiprock extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-13. They came up short against the Gallup Bengals, falling 8-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chieftains of the 5-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Shiprock saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carleon Nez, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

As for Gallup, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-15. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season.

On Gallup's side, Elijah Eddie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. With that strong performance, Eddie is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dryw Benett, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Livingston, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with one run.
