Mentor Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 68-60 to the Westside Christian Academy Eagles. One positive for Mentor Christian, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Westside Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Calvin Cottenden, who dropped a double-double on 36 points and 12 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cottenden has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Douglass, who posted 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.
Mentor Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Westside Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mentor Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off.
