Baseball Recap: Piqua Gets the Win

Piqua lost to Miamisburg back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Vikings. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Jerry Anthony looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Piqua is undefeated when Anthony allows two or fewer earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Shawler, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Hunter Steinke was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Piqua now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Miamisburg, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Piqua will face off against West Carrollton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. As for Miamisburg, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Wayne at 5:00 p.m.
