Basketball Game Preview: St. Lucy's Regents vs. Workman Lobos

The St. Lucy's Regents will head out to take on the Workman Lobos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Lucy's will be strutting in after a victory while Workman will be coming in after a defeat.

While St. Lucy's didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Pomona Catholic 37-16 on Saturday. The Regents have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Lucy's to victory, but perhaps none more so than Danika Mejico, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Williams, who had six points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Workman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Arroyo Valley, falling 49-29.

St. Lucy's is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.6 points per game. As for Workman, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

St. Lucy's strolled past Workman in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 39-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Lucy's since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
