Volleyball Recap: Bayard Comes Up Short

Bayard extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-7. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Mitchell. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Bayard of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Tayten Wyckoff paced Bayard's offense, picking up six kills. Wyckoff got some help from Layni Nesbitt and her 16 assists. Emilee Houchin controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

As for Mitchell, with the win, they broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since October 12, 2024.

Laney Bohl was nothing short of spectacular: she had 22 digs and one assist. Those 22 digs gave her a new career-high.

Bayard wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Garden County on the 23rd. As for Mitchell, they will take on Lingle-Fort Laramie on Thursday.
