Baseball Recap: Maple Mountain Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Maple Mountain couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Spanish Fork Dons by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Dons this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-2 defeat on Tuesday.

Cayden Giles was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, AJ Thomas was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Cy Chrisman, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Maple Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 28-3. As for Spanish Fork, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-16.

As of now, neither Maple Mountain nor the Dons have any future games scheduled.
