Preview: Hamilton Heights Huskies vs. Maconaquah Braves
Hamilton Heights has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Maconaquah Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hamilton Heights' and Oak Hill's matchup on Friday was close at halftime, but Hamilton Heights turned on the heat in the second half with 35 points. Everything went Hamilton Heights' way against Oak Hill as Hamilton Heights made off with a 42-17 victory.
Bodie Derrer was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 190 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes. Another player making a difference was Cameron Fleming, who picked up 51 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Maconaquah fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They beat Northwestern on Friday by the very same score they won with last week: 55-13. With Maconaquah ahead 49-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Hamilton Heights' victory was their tenth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.1 points per game. As for Maconaquah, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Hamilton Heights against Maconaquah in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 51-18 win. Will Hamilton Heights repeat their success, or does Maconaquah have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
